This is the question that brothers Oliver and Louis Leimbach of Lime Cordiale are facing. As one of Australia’s biggest and busiest bands, therein lies the contradiction of being committed musicians & striving for a more sustainable future.

In searching for an answer, feature-length documentary, Lime Cordiale: On The Road To A Better Tour, is currently in the works exploring the practicality of ethical and sustainable touring.

Filmed over the course of the band’s last world tour, they have been documenting their time with people who are achieving just this — coming up with innovative ways to create and maintain a green touring lifestyle, in the hopes of sparking climate revolution through music.

Change is always possible.

How you can make a difference:

Inciting systemic change is no easy feat, but there are super practical things that we can all do on an individual scale which have a massive impact collectively:

Speak Out and Advocate

Vote for Climate, push for better environmental policies and try at least one life shift to nudge the system (e.g. signing a petition, writing to your local political representative(s) to let them know that the climate and environment is something you care about, or divesting from fossil fuels by switching banks or super/pension) Check out Greenpeace International's campaigns.

Energy

Switch your power to 100% renewables. Electrify your household and transport.

Transport

Travel to our gigs by active or public transport and/or consider supporting initiatives like Reforest to address your travel impact.

Food

Eat a plant-based diet, buy locally and seasonally, support regenerative farming and reduce food waste.

Fashion

Say no to fast fashion, buy secondhand, swap and mend your stuff and minimise new clothing purchases.

“If we care for the environment and want to halt the effects of climate change, should we stop touring?”
